High-Stakes Divorce Drama Unfolding Among Wealthy Couple

A contentious divorce is taking center stage involving Jeffrey Leeds, a private equity executive with ties to Jeffrey Epstein, and his younger wife, Elizabeth. The case spans three states and is marked by harsh allegations regarding infidelity, extravagant purchases, and significant amounts of money in play.

The couple’s assets include $100 million in real estate, featuring a luxurious $22 million, 14-room apartment on the Upper East Side and a $23.5 million estate in Southampton. Additionally, Jeffrey previously owned a mansion in Palm Beach valued at $35.6 million.

Elizabeth, 43, faces accusations from her 69-year-old husband of having an affair with Miami businessman Alberto Alejandro Tawil, 66. Jeffrey claims that this affair led to Elizabeth’s pregnancy.

In a February 2025 email exchange, he harshly criticized Elizabeth, stating, “You snuck out the day I left and messed around with that loser.” He described Tawil as a “losing con artist real estate tycoon” in another letter, expressing immense frustration over their financial dealings.

Jeffrey alleges that more than $275,000 from their wedding funds was misappropriated to support Tawil’s business in Mozambique and to cover the costs of Tawil’s sizable staff and “erotic gifts.” He didn’t hold back in a text to Elizabeth, reminding her to be considerate of their two children during this difficult time.

The accusations continue: Jeffrey advised against leaving explicit items in view of the kids and expressed disdain for the inappropriate atmosphere Elizabeth allegedly created. His history with Epstein resurfaced during the divorce proceedings as his name was mentioned multiple times in documents released by the Justice Department.

Still, Elizabeth is not facing any legal issues connected to Epstein. Jeffrey’s lawyer firmly stated that his client had no significant relationship with Epstein and dismissed any implications otherwise as completely baseless.

In her filings, Elizabeth claimed that Jeffrey was engaging in “economic warfare” and harassing her and her associates, including Tawil and a New York jeweler. She noted that Jeffrey had even stalked her at school events, following her and sending her harassing messages.

There’s also the matter of allegedly stolen personal property. Elizabeth shared details regarding her bond with Tawil, revealing that it had been a long-standing relationship, marred by personal loss. The couple’s family dynamic is complicated, with two young children caught in the middle.

Legal disputes are ongoing in Florida, Wyoming, and Manhattan as the divorce saga continues. They exchanged vows in a Manhattan ceremony in March 2012, officiated by former Mayor Rudy Giuliani. At that time, Jeffrey gifted Elizabeth $1 million for her personal use, indicating their affluent lifestyle.

Jeffrey’s net worth remains uncertain; however, past investigations show he had approximately $90 million before marriage. He initiated divorce proceedings in January 2025 in Palm Beach, shortly after Elizabeth filed a counter-suit in Wyoming, having relocated there with their children.

The couple acquired their lavish Park Avenue property for $22.5 million in 2016 and have listed it on the market. Their Palm Beach estate, which spans over 11,000 square feet on a picturesque lot, is currently rented out, as detailed in court documents.

Elizabeth seeks privacy for their family’s sake during this challenging time. Her attorney emphasized the importance of handling matters discreetly, focusing on the children’s best interests. Meanwhile, Jeffrey’s legal representation echoed the need for privacy while denying the allegations made against him.

As tensions run high, Tawil’s legal team has yet to respond publicly to the circumstances surrounding the case.
