Contestant on 'Wheel of Fortune' wins a record $1,035,155

“Wheel of Fortune” Breaks Records with Historic Win

In a moment that will definitely be talked about for years, “Wheel of Fortune” made history on its recent episode. Christina Derevjanik, a contestant from Stamford, Connecticut, bagged an unprecedented prize of $1,035,155—this is, quite frankly, the largest payout in the show’s history.

As the episode moved into the bonus round, Derevjanik managed to solve the puzzle that read “Pack of Coyotes.” To her astonishment, host Ryan Seacrest then revealed an envelope labeled “1 million people.”

Co-host Vanna White hurried over to celebrate with Derevjanik, exclaiming, “I am so happy for you!” Seacrest also expressed his excitement, saying, “Congratulations, you are my first million dollar winner. I have tears in my eyes.” Derevjanik’s win marks a significant milestone as she is the first contestant to claim the million-dollar prize since Seacrest stepped in for the legendary Pat Sajak.

Seacrest took to Instagram to share his joy, stating, “Ecstatic doesn’t cover it. My first million dollar victory set a new wheel record! The biggest victory ever. The biggest smile ever. I will never forget this moment.”

Looking ahead, Seacrest had previously hinted at his ambition to give away even more money in 2025, reflecting on his appreciation for the show’s impact on viewers. He mentioned during an interview, “I love giving money. When people get money, they get really excited, and I want to give them a million dollars in 2025.”

The game show landscape certainly feels different now, especially since Seacrest took the helm as host in the show’s 42nd season after Sajak’s announcement about his retirement.

After Sajak’s last episode aired, Seacrest took to social media to acknowledge Sajak’s impressive tenure. “Congratulations on your incredible run, Pat,” he wrote, emphasizing the lasting impression Sajak has left on the iconic show and its audience.
