Republicans Encourage Voter Turnout Ahead of Midterm Elections
With just a little over a month remaining until Election Day, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) is urging its supporters to get out and vote, regardless of the circumstances.
Blaze News has obtained an exclusive first look at a new video the committee plans to release Saturday. The video calls on Republicans to “hold the line” as it identifies numerous Senate races that are too close to call. Given the slim projected margins and several candidates performing better than polls anticipated in the past, the NRSC hopes that those underestimated by pollsters can help secure wins for the Republicans.
“We will win,” proclaims the video.
“American freedom, safety, and prosperity are at stake,” NRSC Communications Director Joanna Rodriguez stated in a press release shared with Blaze News. She cautioned against the prospect of “socialist Democrats taking control of Congress.”
Rodriguez didn’t just make vague warnings. She specifically targeted individuals, labeling Michigan’s Abdul El-Sayed as a “terrorist sympathizer,” and referring to Maine’s Troy Jackson, Ohio’s Sherrod Brown, and Alaska’s Mary Peltola as “corrupt losers.”
The ad underscores the crucial nature of the battle for Senate control, highlighting that the outcome could significantly affect the power dynamics in Congress next year.
The video depicts Democrats expressing hope, though not certainty. Former North Carolina governor Roy Cooper observed that the state hasn’t elected a Democrat to the Senate in almost twenty years. Meanwhile, Democratic Senate candidate Rep. Chris Pappas from New Hampshire called his state a “purple state.”
“Regardless of where you are, the margins are too tight,” NRSC Chairman Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) states in the video. “Work your tail off.”
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) also contributes a comment in the video, indicating that Democrats have embraced the socialist agenda within their party.
The NRSC is reminding voters of the disorder that can arise under Democratic governance, stressing the importance of not losing sight of America’s recent history.
Interestingly, there are indications that awareness of this past is gaining traction among political analysts. For example, CNN’s chief data analyst noted that Republican enthusiasm for turnout is nearly on par with that of Democrats. Furthermore, registered Republicans now slightly outnumber registered Democrats, suggesting that this enthusiasm could prove crucial.
Past national polls have underestimated Republican support by margins ranging from three to five points in recent election cycles, according to the NRSC. This pattern raises the question of whether similar shifts might occur in the upcoming midterms.
Patrick Ruffini, a Republican pollster, presented additional insights on Thursday, revealing that Senate polls taken roughly a month before elections from 2018 to 2024 typically overstated Democratic support by an average of 6.2 points in key battleground states like Iowa, Ohio, and Michigan. This blip might be significant as those two states find themselves in contention again this year, hinting at potential surprises in the election results.
The NRSC video makes it clear that it is not conceding defeat in the midterms. Instead, it calls Republican voters to action during this off-cycle year, emphasizing that the future governance of America hinges on their turnout. Without motivated voters, the GOP risks falling victim to a nearly century-long curse during midterm elections.
“We will win,” declares the narrator, underscoring the urgency of the moment.
With just over a month left, the NRSC has its work cut out to make that statement a reality.
