Former Teachers Arrested After Confrontation at Miami School

A personal disagreement between two ex-teachers at a charter school in Miami has led to their arrests after a classroom meeting turned violent, according to investigators.

Terodo Tiyan Torrence, 36, and Odilia Biggins, who previously had a relationship and share a child, were involved in the incident, as outlined in an arrest affidavit.

Before the confrontation, Biggins mentioned that Torrence had left her a note asking if they could talk. She agreed to meet him in classroom 119 at SEED School on July 17.

According to police statements, their conversation quickly escalated into violence. Biggins reported that Torrence hit her repeatedly on the head and then slammed her head against a wall, leaving her unconscious on the floor.

However, the incident didn’t stop there. After regaining consciousness, Biggins reportedly walked to her car, retrieved pepper spray, and chased Torrence across the campus, reportedly using the spray on him as well.

Surveillance footage captured her entering the classroom where Torrence was located.

Shortly after the altercation, both teachers’ children emerged, and school staff attended to Torrence, who appeared to be struggling and had visible swelling. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Biggins was arrested the following Monday, facing charges for allegedly discharging a weapon on school grounds and for domestic violence. A judge found probable cause, setting her bail at $2,000.

Torrence was arrested the next day by school police and charged with misdemeanor domestic violence.

He was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and later appeared before Judge Alicia Garcia Priovolos, who issued a standard bond of $2,000 and a no-contact order with Biggins. His arraignment is set for September 23.

Details surrounding what led to the fight remain unclear, as does whether any students witnessed the incident. Efforts to obtain further information about the teachers’ employment status from the Miami-Dade School Police Department and SEED School have been initiated.
