Convicted child offender charged with assaulting 2 women at Planet Fitness

A man previously convicted of child rape is accused of assaulting a woman at a Planet Fitness gym in Cambridge, Massachusetts. According to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Laquan Holland, 40, brought the woman to the gym allegedly for access to the showers but then assaulted her there. He reportedly struck her, attempted to remove her clothing, and blocked her from escaping.

This incident follows closely after a charge accusing Holland of failing to register as a sex offender was dismissed, contingent on his completion of the registration process.

After his arraignment on multiple charges including assault to rape, kidnapping, and witness intimidation, a judge ordered him to be held without bail.

The attack reportedly occurred on October 1, when Holland, a member of the gym, arrived with a woman he knew, suggesting she could use the showers. However, upon reaching the facility, he allegedly began to strike her.

Desperate to escape, the woman fled to the women’s locker room, but Holland pursued her. Authorities state that he continued to hit and touch her inappropriately while trying to undress her, making it impossible for her to leave.

During the chaos, a female employee entered the shower area in an attempt to help the woman. Unfortunately, as she tried to intervene, Holland allegedly assaulted her as well.

When police arrived, they found Holland in the locker room trying to put his clothes back on.

Holland has a troubling past, having pleaded guilty in 2006 to multiple counts related to child rape and indecent assault on a minor. Most recently, he was arrested in August for failing to register as a sex offender—a violation of legal requirements that involve regular registration and verification, which he is mandated to update every 30 days.

On the day of that arrest, he attempted to register late at the Cambridge police headquarters. His late arrival led to his arrest, though the charge was dismissed after he complied with registration protocols shortly afterward.

In light of these events, Planet Fitness has confirmed that they have terminated Holland’s membership and are fully cooperating with the investigation.
