Coors Light literally has a Monday case.
Molson Coors Beverage Company announced this week that it will repackage Coors Light as “Monday's Light” for a limited time.
Coors Light appears to be making the most of a misspelling found in a national ad campaign that debuted Monday.
The ad was supposed to say “Mountain Cold Refreshment.” Instead, it said “Mountain Cold Refashment.”
Coors Light acknowledged the error in a statement that began with, “We had an incident on Monday.”
“Coors Light would like to thank everyone who informed us of the error,” the statement continued.
“Monday, right?”
It appears that Coors Light has absorbed the criticism and comical comments it received on social media and turned this failure into an entirely new campaign tied to its upcoming Super Bowl commercial.
“What is a reference?” one misspelled Coors Light's Instagram post.
Another said: “No matter how you spell it, it's pretty awesome…and mentions.”
The new Monday's Light 12-pack will soon be available at retailers nationwide, the company said.
Coors Light is also offering drinkers the chance to win a case of the renamed Monday's Light after the Super Bowl commercial airs.
Coors Light was first brewed in 1941, but was quickly discontinued.
It was reintroduced in 1978 as a “diet beer” to replace Miller Lite, which had debuted three years earlier.
