Under the Biden-Harris administration, a police officer has been shot and killed in the United States every 22 hours this year, according to the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). More than 260 police officers have been shot and killed so far this year.
“The war on police continues to rage in America,” FOP National Vice President Joe Gamaldi told Breitbart Texas, noting that more than 630 police officers have been shot and killed in the past two years. “Last year, 378 police officers were shot and killed, a 60 percent increase from 2018.”
“There have been over 260 shootings this year alone, which translates to one police officer being shot every 22 hours in the US,” Gamaldi added.
Assaults on police officers are also at a 10-year high, the vice president of the national police union, which represents more than 377,000 law enforcement officers, told Breitbart.
“The reasons are clear,” Gamaldi said, “because we have a revolving door criminal justice system; 85 percent of those who kill police officers have had previous arrests and 71 percent are convicted felons; and because some politicians, media outlets and activists have discovered that they can make money by spreading anti-police rhetoric and convincing Americans that we are the enemy.”
Gamaldi expressed frustration with the lack of action or support from the Biden-Harris administration: “To make matters worse, we have not heard a single voice from the Biden-Harris Administration condemning this historic violence against law enforcement. The silence from the White House is deafening.”
“Our brave police officers expect our nation's leaders to stand with us in opposing violence and not allowing it to become normalized,” Gamaldi continued. “So it's no surprise that the National Police Agency, representing 378,000 police officers across the country, has endorsed Donald Trump, a true law and order candidate, for president of the United States.”
The FOP announced its long-awaited endorsement on Friday, according to Breitbart News.
“Public safety and border security will be key issues in the final months of the campaign. Our members carefully considered the candidates' positions, but there was no doubt about who we want as our president for the next four years: Donald J. Trump,” said FOP President Patrick Yoesu, speaking on behalf of the nation's oldest and largest police union.
“He (Trump) has led our country through some very tough times,” Yoesu explained. “He provided strong and effective leadership for our country during his first term, and now he is seeking a second term and we intend to support him in winning.”
