Copa America odds, picks for Sunday

The U.S. Men’s National Team opens its Copa America campaign on Sunday night against Bolivia.

This may be the USMNT’s first game of the tournament, but it’s a must-win situation considering they’re facing the bottom team in Group C.

With less than three points, the U.S. could find itself in a position where it needs to beat Uruguay, the third-ranked favorite to win the Copa America, in its last group stage match.

The good news is that the betting market is pretty bullish that Stars and Stripes will get the job done.

Going into Sunday’s match, the U.S. is a massive -550 favorite on the three-way moneyline, meaning Christian Pulisic and the U.S. would have to pay -180 to cover the 1.5 goal differential.

It may be a bit surprising to see the United States as the overwhelming favorite to win given their inconsistent performance over the past year, but Bolivia is probably the weakest team in the field.

La Verde are known for their ability to pull off major upsets in CONMEBOL competition, but most of their best performances have come in their home stadium, which happens to be nearly 12,000 feet above sea level.

Without home-field advantage to fall back on, Bolivia has no chance of beating the United States, so they will need to focus on being physical and defensively solid.

With that, the game should be tight, as the U.S. has struggled to break down a defensively-focused opponent all night.

This looks like less than 2.5 to me.
