Cops ‘fed up’ Manhattan DA didn’t seek bail for cop-beating migrants

Police officers and other critics have criticized Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg for denying bail requests for unruly immigrants arrested on suspicion of assaulting New York City police officers in Times Square.

Veteran police officers told the Saturday Post that Mr. Bragg walked five immigrants after he was charged Wednesday with second-degree assault on a police officer and obstruction of public administration in the shocking Jan. 27 incident. He was furious that he had made a mockery of the entire judicial system. Defeated.

“Alvin Bragg just showed all New Yorkers that the police don’t matter to him,” said an NYPD detective who has been in the job for more than 20 years.

“This opens a window to all the people that if we hit a police officer, nothing will happen to us. Thank you, Mr. Bragg.”

Another 25-year NYPD officer slammed the left-handed prosecutor, saying his lack of action was “an absolute joke” because the immigrants had committed “bailable crimes.” ” he said.

“They’re not coming back,” the officer said.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if they went back to Mexico.”

According to the NYPD, seven people arrested so far for assaulting police officers and NYPD lieutenants were from suburban shelters.

Police are searching for six more suspects.

According to police officials, the suspects arrested include Darwin Andres Gomez (19), Kelvin Servita Arocha (19), Wilson Juarez (21), and Yeoman Rebelon (24). Six people are reported to have headed to California.

Police said Joan Boada, 22, Yoenly Brito, 24, and Jandry Barros, 21, were also arrested.

Brito is being held without bail.

After leaving the courtroom, Boada pointed the bird in both hands at reporters and photographers.

“I think the cops are fed up with it,” the veteran officer added.

“We talk about that all the time. We’re a catch-and-release city. This is a complete joke. We put bad people in jail to keep our community safe, but They just keep putting them out there. I really don’t understand what their intentions are.”

Law enforcement officials are now involved, and at least five of the fugitives have entry warrants issued, a senior law enforcement official told the Post.

The embattled left-handed prosecutor has even been criticized by at least one judge for his downplaying of crime.

City Council Minority Leader Joe Borelli (R-Staten Island) also criticized Bragg for denying the punks’ bail requests and cheered on the Manhattan judge who recently exposed prosecutors’ underhanded tactics.

“Alvin Bragg is to perversion of justice; Harvey Weinstein is to perversion in general,” Borelli said.

“His backwards view of public safety is once again on display for all to see. He is the Wyatt Earp to those who committed victimless political crimes and violently assaulted police officers. He is Barney Fife to immigrants who wield it.”

“Let’s loosen up Braggstrike again.”

Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Brendan T. Lantry ruled Tuesday that Mr. Bragg was guilty of exploiting a legal loophole to try to throw books at two New Yorkers who bought fake coronavirus vaccine cards. They criticized Mr. Bragg, even though he routinely uses the same rules for people who are being questioned. A much more serious crime.

Bragg’s office said it is still investigating and viewing video footage of the Time Square attack.

The embattled prosecutors released a joint statement Saturday afternoon with NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban, in which Bragg vowed to “cooperate with the NYPD.”

“Our office continues to work with law enforcement to bring all those responsible for these heinous attacks to justice. Video and other evidence shows that some of the most guilty individuals have yet to be identified or arrested. It is clear that this has not been done,” Bragg said in a statement.

“We are simultaneously preparing to present an indictment to a grand jury on Tuesday and will release it to the public as soon as legally permitted. Until everyone who assaulted a police officer in this horrific attack is held accountable. We never rest.”

“An attack on a police officer is an attack on society as a whole,” Caban said.

“The NYPD is thoroughly investigating this incident, in which a group of cowards attacked two uniformed police officers tasked with protecting our community. We are committed to supporting the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. We will continue to work tirelessly to identify and arrest all those who participated in this event.”
