Corey Feldman Returns to TV with “Dancing with the Stars”
Corey Feldman is back in the limelight after joining the cast of “Dancing with the Stars.” The 54-year-old actor, recognizable from his childhood roles in iconic 1980s flicks like “The Goonies,” “Stand by Me,” and “The Lost Boys,” is competing this season alongside professional dancer Jenna Johnson.
In a recent chat with a media outlet, he expressed his enthusiasm about partnering with Johnson, the reigning champion, who brought home the Mirror Ball Trophy last season with former “The Bachelor” star Joey Graziadei. “When it comes to dance floors, I am very fortunate to work with someone who’s skillful in movement, rhythm, and technique,” Feldman said, highlighting his appreciation for Johnson’s expertise.
Feldman is committed to daily rehearsals, admitting his past dance experiences differ greatly from ballroom dancing. “I’ve danced professionally in completely different styles,” he mentioned, trying to adjust to this new discipline.
Meanwhile, Johnson expressed her excitement to witness Feldman’s growth as a dancer. “We’re just at the beginning, but I think viewers will be thrilled to follow Corey’s journey,” she noted, adding that she has high hopes for his performance.
Reflecting on her own experience, Johnson, who won the show in 2018, shared that she doesn’t feel pressure to repeat her past success. “Every season is a new journey, especially with different partners,” she said. Her goal is to ensure Feldman feels comfortable and enjoys his time on the dance floor.
Corey Feldman’s career has been a rollercoaster. Starting at just three years old, he made a name for himself with guest spots on shows like “Mork & Mindy” and starred in films such as “Gremlins” and “Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter.” His big break came in 1985 with “The Goonies,” solidifying his status as a teen idol with hits like “Stand by Me” and “The Lost Boys.”
However, as he transitioned to adulthood in the 1990s, Feldman faced legal troubles and personal struggles, particularly with substance abuse. He later appeared in various B-movies and reality TV shows, while also pursuing a music career.
In recent years, he has become an advocate for survivors of child sexual abuse in Hollywood, often highlighting the challenges faced by child celebrities. Feldman has even produced documentaries detailing these issues, igniting discussions about necessary reforms in the industry.
As he prepares for “Dancing with the Stars,” Feldman remains passionate about his music, announcing new projects and singles. “It’s a lot of work,” he shared, “but I’m grateful for this opportunity. Learning is a blessing.” With the competition kicking off on September 16th, many will be watching to see how his dance journey unfolds.
