Corey Lewandowski on New Hampshire Swinging Toward Trump

Republican Party is ‘100% Trump’s party now’: Corey Lewandowski Said He spoke in an interview with Breitbart News at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday.

Lewandowski, who served as former President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign chairman and now serves as New Hampshire’s delegation chair to the Republican National Convention, spoke with Breitbart’s Washington bureau chief Matthew Boyle about New Hampshire’s tilt toward Trump.

“Oh my, things have changed a lot since just eight years ago. [During the] In the 2016 election, I was there from the beginning, even before I got on the escalator, and there was a lot of unrest. [at] “Going into the 2016 convention, there was this expectation that there would be a fierce battle on the floor,” Lewandowski recalled.

Donald Trump has been nominated as the Republican candidate three times in a row, in 2016, 2020, and now in 2024, and Monday’s near-unanimous endorsement by delegates solidified his position as the candidate ahead of the November presidential election. Trump has received overwhelming support at the past two party conventions, but in 2016 he won the support of about 70% of the delegates (11 of whom were from New Hampshire), followed by Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) with about 20% support.

“If you remember, Senator Cruz never mentioned Donald Trump’s name at that convention,” Lewandowski recalled. “This is completely different.”

Lewandowski gave some of the credit to former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R). release Haley had urged the nine delegates to support Trump ahead of the Republican National Convention and even before Saturday’s assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. New Hampshire has 22 delegates attending the Republican Convention, and all of them supported Trump this year. In January, Trump defeated Haley in the first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary despite having the backing of millions of dollars from a donor base. Her loss signaled the end of her presidential campaign was near.

“I’m not a big fan of Nikki Haley. I’m just being honest because I’m a conservative. But that being said, she opened up delegates and it gave us the opportunity to hand all 22 delegates to Donald Trump,” Lewandowski said.

“So I applaud her. She gave a great speech last night. But listen, this is very much the party of Donald Trump, OK? We are very united,” he continued. “The shootings have had some impact on that, but even before that happened, whether you’re a MAGA Republican like me, or you’re more moderate… it doesn’t matter now. Everybody has seen the failures of the Biden administration over the last three and a half years, and everybody believes that we can lead this country in a different direction.”
