Prisoner Exchange Between Russia and Ukraine
Russia and Ukraine have come to an agreement to exchange 1,000 prisoners. This development follows the first direct peace negotiations since 2022.
A senior official from Ukraine mentioned that the exchange was ongoing as of Friday, although officials requested anonymity when sharing that information. Moscow had not immediately confirmed the process.
About a week ago, in Turkey, both nations agreed to the exchange, marking the initial direct discussions since the onset of the conflict in 2022. The meeting was brief, lasting only two hours, and did not yield a significant breakthrough in efforts to halt the fighting.
Donald Trump extended his congratulations to both sides, expressing hope that this might lead to something significant. He stated that the exchange of key prisoners would soon take effect.
It seems that Trump is advocating for peace amidst the ongoing tension.
