Authorities in Lansing, Michigan, are looking into the potential link between the deaths of five men along the Lansing River Trail over the past year. They are not dismissing the theory of a possible serial killer being involved.
The deceased individuals were all white homeless men, aged between 22 and 70, and they passed away in the same one-mile section of the 20-mile trail. In four of the five instances, there was evident blunt-force trauma to the head or face, and no weapons have been found. Multiple victims were discovered either under bridges or in close proximity to them, with police speculating that the assaults likely occurred at night or during early morning hours while the men were resting or asleep.
On a recent episode of “Stu and Dave Do America,” BlazeTV hosts discussed the situation affecting Lansing. Dave humorously critiques the alarming nature of the deaths, noting that they seem disconnected from typical causes like diabetes or alcoholism, making the situation highly suspicious.
Stu adds to the conversation with a joke about how those causes tend to be leading in Michigan, and they both touch on the language the media uses regarding the victims—specifically, that the term “unhoused” has been favored over “homeless.”
Reflecting on the term, Dave comments on how some prefer “unhoused” as if it’s interchangeable, while Stu suggests that being homeless implies a desire for housing, while the latter suggests neglect on the community’s part.
They also share a clip of Lansing police Chief Rob Backus, who addresses the public’s concerns about a possible serial killer, stating that all cases are actively being investigated, and the idea of them being related is on the table.
Stu, in a sarcastic tone, insinuates that the similar circumstances might indeed suggest a serial killer’s involvement. He expresses skepticism about how often serial killers are truly a threat today compared to past decades.
