A councilwoman from Los Angeles, who is also a Democratic candidate for mayor, recently marked the completion of a crosswalk project that took eight months on Thursday.
Nithya Raman, representing the 4th District, shared her excitement about the new crosswalk in a post on X. She expressed gratitude towards her CD4 Field Team for their efforts in addressing the issue and improving street safety.
The councilwoman posted a before-and-after comparison of the intersection, stating her office was made aware of the need for a crosswalk around late 2025.
The Los Feliz Neighborhood Council alerted our office in late 2025 to the need for a crosswalk at Sunset Dr. and Bates St., which has just been completed!

Spencer Pratt, a former candidate for mayor in Los Angeles, criticized Raman’s post on X, sarcastically questioning whether painting a crosswalk over a cracked road could really be considered a significant achievement.

Bill Melugin, a congressional correspondent for Fox News, also made a joke on X about needing to verify the authenticity of the situation.
“Yes, the socialist candidate for LA mayor and current member of the LA city council is taking a victory lap for painting a crosswalk over a decrepit road full of cracks,” he noted.
Raman, who aligns with the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), refers to herself as an “urban planner” on her campaign website, where she asserts that she prioritizes “everyday Angelenos” and has achieved results.
She entered the mayoral race right before the February deadline and secured second place in the June primary election, garnering 28.5 percent of the vote. Pratt came in third with around 26 percent, while the incumbent Mayor, Karen Bass, received 34.3 percent.
