News in brief: assistant coach Azhar Mahmood has left Surrey to join Pakistan – Jade Dernbach to step into his shoes for now; Somerset have signed South African quick Migael Pretorius for six red-ball matches starting today against Surrey; while Derbyshire have signed another South African quick Daryn Dupavillon from the start of May till mid September. And in a bitter blow, Warwickshire’s Liam Norwell is out of action again after missing the whole of 2023. His last bowl in anger was his 9-62 to keep Warwickshire up at the end of the 2022 season.

There’s a lot of warm-up going on at the oval. I was surprised when I heard Eurythmics. Sweet dreams on the speaker. National flags waving in the wind and delicious coffee in the media room.

I was shocked by the wet and non-wet states. Many counties in Division 2 have good drainage. If Sussex and Middlesex can get more play they could have a huge advantage there. at home.

preamble
Good morning from the oval where the sun is shining. And hello from Ali, who will soon be arriving in Edgbaston, where the sun may never shine.
First is the weather. The Met Office reports that the grounds are “mostly dry with warm sunshine”, but we need to check to see if it’s dry everywhere, especially in Bristol.
News Summary: Assistant Coach Azhar Mahmood Left Surrey to enter Pakistan – Jade Dernbach First of all, put yourself in his position. Somerset have signed South African quick Michael Pretorius for six red-ball matches against Surrey starting today.Meanwhile, Derbyshire has signed another South African on short notice Darin Dupavillon From early May to mid-September.And it was a painful blow for Warwickshire. Liam Nowell He missed the entire 2023 season and was sidelined again. The last bowl of anger was the one that kept Warwickshire 9-62 at the end of the 2022 season.
