A Pennsylvania couple tragically drowned while vacationing in Florida with their six children, authorities said.
According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Brian Waters, 51, and Erica Wishard, 48, were on Stuart Beach on Hutchinson Island Thursday afternoon when they were swept away by a rip current along with their two teenage children.

“The children attempted to swim against the current to rescue their parents, but it became unsafe and they were forced to swim to shore,” authorities said in a press release.
The parents were eventually pulled from the water by the Martin County Marine Rescue Team and CPR was administered immediately until emergency services arrived on scene.
“Life-saving efforts continued in the ambulance and at the hospital, with doctors making final efforts before pronouncing the couple dead,” the sheriff’s office said.
Crisis intervention teams supported the couple’s children throughout the day while they waited for other family members to come and pick up the children from Florida.
