Engagement Surprise at Ole Miss Game

Lane Kiffin, the head coach of Ole Miss, decided to join in on a special moment during a recent game.

At halftime of Ole Miss’ 49-0 victory over the Citadel, former pole vaulter Drew O’Connor proposed to his girlfriend on the field. In a delightful twist, Kiffin leaped into the scene, surprising the couple as they celebrated their engagement.

While taking photos, O’Connor’s girlfriend mimicked a field goal kick, and that’s when Kiffin posed with his arm around them, smiling for the camera.

Both of them appeared a bit taken aback by Kiffin’s unexpected participation, glancing at the coach before returning to their photo session.

It was quite a dominant afternoon for Kiffin’s No. 7 Rebels, who limited the Bulldogs to a mere 106 yards, contrasting significantly with Mississippi State’s 603 yards.

Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss had a stellar performance, accumulating 333 passing yards and three touchdowns, completing an impressive 29 out of 33 passes.

Kiffin noted, “We wanted Trinidad to focus on efficiency rather than big plays. It’s not about the stats; it’s about how well he executes.” This sense of strategy seemed to pay off handsomely.

Running back Kewan Lacy also shone, scoring three touchdowns while rushing for 49 yards across 11 carries.

Looking ahead, the Rebels, ranked No. 6 by the College Football Playoff Committee, are gearing up to face Florida next week. Interestingly, rumors have surfaced regarding Kiffin potentially replacing the recently fired Gators coach, Billy Napier.

Chambliss expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming game, saying, “Florida has solid players. Sure, the coach has been let go, but they performed admirably against Georgia. Their team shows a fight that we can’t overlook. We’ll need to stay focused and play our game, and I believe we’ll be fine.”
