A Wisconsin couple who allegedly joined a riot in Kenosha in 2020 has been sentenced to prison in connection with another violent crime.
Racine’s Joshua Ziminski, 38, and Kelly Ziminski, 32, both have criminal records. Joshua’s past is particularly troubling, as he has a criminal record for weapons charges and a restraining order violation. Kenosha County Eye was reported last year.
The two were arrested and charged in connection with the 2020 Kenosha riots. According to court documents cited by the court, Racine Journal TimesJoshua was standing near Kyle Rittenhouse on the night of August 25, 2020, later admitting to firing a “warning shot” just before Rittenhouse shot Joseph Rosenbaum in self-defense.
The Racine Journal-Times claimed that the couple “were central figures in Rittenhouse’s trial” in November 2021, shortly before he was acquitted.

At 1:20 am on August 26, 2022, Kelly knocked on the man’s door and asked to use the restroom. According to the criminal complaint, Kelly worked “odd hours” and it was “common” to come in to clean at odd hours. So the man let her in, but it felt strange to see two men enter, one of whom turned out to be Joshua.

The victim claimed there was no money in the apartment, but was able to withdraw money from the bank. “Joshua then put a knife in the man’s back and forced him into an outdoor life-size GMC,” the criminal complaint states. The four then drove to various petrol stations, where the victim tried to withdraw money from an ATM, but none of the machines refused.
Finally, at their final destination, the victim managed to escape “despite the men’s attempts to stop them.” He entered a gas station and asked the clerk to call 911.
Joshua later told police that he had confronted a man who allegedly sexually assaulted Kelly. The man is not believed to have been charged in connection with the charges.

Last week, Joshua was sentenced to three years in prison and Kelly to 20 months. Both men were given a suspended sentence, and their supervised sentences, which are due to be executed after their sentences are completed, were also extended.
