Trevor Bauer Ordered to Pay Damages
The judge has ruled that former Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer must pay damages for not adhering to the terms of a settlement agreement related to sexual assault allegations.
Back in 2021, Bauer was placed on leave after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her at her Pasadena home on two separate occasions. She claimed their encounter started consensually but turned violent. Bauer, on the other hand, maintains that all interactions were consensual. Prosecutors decided not to charge him in 2022. Subsequently, he filed a lawsuit against her to clear his name, which led to her countersuit. While there was no financial exchange directly between them in the settlement, the woman, Lindsay Hill, was to receive $300,000 from her own insurance company. Recently, a judge from the Los Angeles Superior Court ordered Hill to pay over $300,000 for violating the settlement’s terms.
In an email from Hill’s attorney to Bauer’s legal counsel, it was noted that she would be receiving the $300,000 from the insurance policy. However, on Monday, Judge Daniel Crowley ordered Hill to pay $309,832.02.
After the settlement, Hill made claims on social media suggesting Bauer “repaid the insurance money” so he could drop his countersuit. Bauer had previously cited 21 different instances on various platforms where Hill allegedly breached the settlement, which prohibited him or his representatives from asserting that he had paid her any money as part of the agreement. Apparently, violating this term could incur a penalty of $10,000.
Interestingly, Hill did not respond to the lawsuit against her, leading Judge Crowley to grant Bauer a default victory, determining that there was enough evidence from his lawyer to justify the award.
On her X account, Hill stated that she “refused to participate in this lawsuit, in any form,” and expressed frustration at the setbacks she faced in trying to rebuild her career.
“He would never see a cent from me,” she remarked.
