Federal Judge Blocks Deportation of Boulder Attack Suspect’s Family

A federal judge has intervened to prevent the Trump administration from deporting the wife and five children of a suspect involved in a violent anti-Semitic attack in Boulder, Colorado.

On Wednesday, US District Judge Gordon P. Gallagher granted a request to pause the deportation of Mohamed Sabri Soliman’s family. The White House earlier indicated that the family was slated for an expedited return to Egypt.

Gallagher stated, “Deportation without a proper process can cause irreparable harm, and the urgency of the situation necessitates an immediate order.” He emphasized the need to evaluate the family’s potential knowledge or complicity in the attack.

Soliman, who entered the US on a visa in 2022, overstayed after it expired and had also submitted an application for asylum.

In Sunday’s horrifying event, dozens sustained injuries, with some victims facing critical conditions after being attacked with Molotov cocktails. Although the family hasn’t faced any criminal charges related to the incident, immigration officers detained them on Tuesday.

Christie Noem, the Secretary of Homeland Security, mentioned that investigations are also focusing on the family’s awareness and potential support for the attacks. “We are looking into how much they knew about this heinous act,” she said.

Investigations have revealed that Soliman allegedly intended to target people protesting for the return of hostages held by a group in Israel. He reportedly expressed a desire to strike against “Zionists” in solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

Authorities updated the number of injured from 12 to 15 on Wednesday, with victims ranging in age from 25 to 88, including both women and men. Volunteers were also reported to have been harmed during the incident.

This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
