Very little has gone right for the Dallas Cowboys this season, and that trend continued Sunday.
Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey (ironically, one of the few bright spots for the Cowboys this season) was hit by an errant kick during the team's 23-19 loss to archrival Washington on Sunday. A cheerleader was injured in the back of her head.
A quick-thinking cameraman tried to redirect the ball and change its route, but to no avail.
Of course, the kick was a mistake and went out of bounds, so this was also a foul and a penalty was imposed. X users were quick to ridicule this insult and injury.
With this loss, the Cowboys fell to 7 wins and 10 losses, dropping to third place in the NFC East. Mike McCarthy has already received an interview request from the Chicago Bears, and the Cowboys' head coaching situation is filled with uncertainty. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has hinted that he is open to keeping McCarthy despite last year's humiliating first-round playoff loss at the hands of the Packers and this year's postseason no-show.
However, no official announcement has been made regarding Mr. McCarthy's future.
