Cowboys have longest NFC Championship drought after Commanders snap streak

The Dallas Cowboys were the center of attention for NFL fans Saturday, even though the team missed the playoffs and started the offseason by parting ways with head coach Mike McCarthy.

The Washington Commanders' victory over the Detroit Lions ended their long NFC Championship drought. The team will play for a chance to play in the Super Bowl for the first time since the 1991 season. Since that game, Washington has made the playoffs just seven times.

The Cowboys currently have the longest NFC Championship drought. Dallas hasn't played in a conference title game since the 1995 season. The team defeated the Green Bay Packers in that game and topped the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl. This was the last time the Cowboys appeared in the Super Bowl.

Since then, the Cowboys have appeared in the playoffs 18 times. None of his appearances resulted in a victory in the divisional round.

The New York Jets have appeared in back-to-back AFC title games, but have not appeared in the postseason since 2010. The New York Giants have won two Super Bowls, the Philadelphia Eagles have won a Super Bowl, and Commanders quarterback Jaden Daniels has been to the playoffs just as many times. The Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins have extended conference title droughts.

The Browns have not played in the AFC Championship since the 1989 season, when they lost to John Elway and the Denver Broncos. The Dolphins have not appeared in a conference title game since the 1992 season. Miami lost to the Buffalo Bills that year.
