Randy White Endorses Ken Paxton in Texas Senate Race
Dallas Cowboys Hall of Famer Randy White has thrown his support behind Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in the pivotal U.S. Senate race. In a conversation with OutKick, White expressed confidence in Paxton, stating, “Ken Paxton will get in there and get things done. He’s not afraid. That’s one thing I really like about Ken.” He further emphasized that Paxton is straightforward and prioritizes honesty over gaining popularity. “He tells the truth. He’s not trying to win a popularity contest when he’s working. It’s what’s right for the people,” White noted.
White’s endorsement stems from a personal connection with Paxton, along with shared interests regarding child welfare and the opioid epidemic. “I got to know Ken as a person, and I think he is a super person,” White remarked, appreciating Paxton’s attitude and his approach to issues.
He highlighted Paxton’s commitment to the National Child Identification Program, aimed at helping parents keep their children’s identifying information secure. Paxton has shown support for this program and has been active in securing federal funding for it, while White serves as one of its ambassadors, indicating they both share a strong commitment to aiding children.
The opioid crisis also hits close to home for White, who tragically lost his son-in-law to an accidental overdose. This loss has fueled his advocacy for drug awareness. In 2024, he collaborated with Paxton and Texas parents affected by similar tragedies to promote a public service announcement regarding the dangers of fentanyl.
“This opioid stuff — I lost a son-in-law to opioids, accidental,” White shared. He affirmed Paxton’s active involvement in addressing the crisis, saying, “He’s been right on top of that ever since that happened.” White believes Paxton’s methods align with his own views on how such issues should be handled.
When comparing Paxton to his opponent, Democrat James Talarico, White expressed his lack of trust for Talarico. “I know Ken Paxton. I know he’s going to do what he says he’s going to do,” he stated. In contrast, White described Talarico’s positions as inconsistent with his beliefs. “I hear what he says, and it’s different from what I believe,” he said. When asked if he thought Talarico was “too woke,” White answered affirmatively, adding, “If this guy gets elected in Texas, I’m going to pull my hair out.” He particularly pointed to issues like transgender participation in girls’ sports as areas of disagreement with Talarico and Democrats.
Talarico had voted against restrictions on transgender athletes during his time in the Texas House. However, he later stated he would oppose trans athletes in girls’ sports if it jeopardized fairness, a position White interpreted as indicative of unreliability. “I think that’s a sign that we can’t trust him,” White concluded, emphasizing the need for someone steadfast like Paxton.
Despite the competitive nature of the race, with polls showing Talarico narrowly leading Paxton, White remains a strong supporter of Paxton. He also called for a significant turnout in the election to ensure that Texas leans towards values he supports. Additionally, he expressed his unwavering support for Trump, mentioning how he’d back him 1,000%. “These gas prices… we’re paying a little more for gas right now,” he noted, but added that he believes Trump has the capability to manage such economic challenges effectively.
Overall, White’s support for Paxton combines personal relationships, shared beliefs, and a critique of what he perceives as contrasting values represented by Talarico.
