Cowboys' Jerry Jones responds to Micah Parsons' request for a trade

Cowboys Owner Addresses Micah Parsons’ Trade Request

Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, finally spoke up following superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons’ trade request made last Friday. In his response, the 82-year-old reassured fans, saying, “Don’t lose sleep over this.” His words came after Parsons made headlines by announcing his desire for a new deal via social media.

Jones characterized the situation as a “Parsons world,” suggesting that the trade talk is merely part of the discussion around negotiations.

In his post, Parsons expressed a strong commitment to the Cowboys, stating, “Yes, I wanted to be here. I did everything I could to show that I wanted to be a cowboy.” He reminisced about cheerfully supporting the team growing up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. But he also noted, “Unfortunately, I don’t want to be here anymore.” It’s a mix of longing and frustration, reflecting a deeper discontent.

Parsons clarified that he had hoped to secure a contract extension after qualifying for it following his third season, but the Cowboys showed little interest. He shared his feelings about the ongoing silence from the team regarding negotiations for a potential extension after last season. “To this day, we have not had a single call, email, or text from the team regarding the start of negotiations,” he revealed.

While this situation unfolds, it appears Parsons is resigned to his decision. He underscored that he had personally submitted his trade request to Stephen Jones, making it clear he felt compelled to act in his own interest.

Despite Jones’ insistence that fans shouldn’t worry, one can’t help but feel that the tension surrounding Parsons’ demands could weigh heavily on the team’s dynamics as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Parsons has been a standout since being drafted 12th overall in 2021, making the Pro Bowl each year of his career. His stats, including 52.5 sacks and 172 solo tackles over 63 games, speak for themselves, as does his last season’s performance. Even as Jones attempts to downplay the situation, the upcoming talks and decisions may keep fans on the edge of their seats.
