Other than taking offensive lineman Tyler Guyton in the first round and drafting seven other players, the Dallas Cowboys front office had what many would describe as a quiet offseason.
However, franchise football personnel decision-makers are continuing to work to determine whether the team can keep several key players on the roster long-term.
Three-time Pro Bowler Micah Parsons is widely considered one of the pillars of Dallas’ defense, and as a 2021 first-round draft pick, Parsons could end up demanding a historic salary if the Cowboys want to keep him for the foreseeable future.

Parsons could become the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, a record currently held by Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson. Earlier this week, the wide receiver signed a historic $140 million contract with the Vikings, with $110 million guaranteed. ESPN reported..
There are currently no indications that Parsons is interested in changing uniforms anytime soon, but it’s possible the star pass rusher could end up moving on to another team.

Parsons, a Pennsylvania native who played his college football at Penn State, acknowledged he’d be open to playing in his home state if he were to leave the Cowboys.

Parsons’ considerations at least revolve around his respect for longtime Steelers coach Mike Tomlin.
If Parsons does manage to make it to Pittsburgh, he could end up playing alongside one-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and six-time Pro Bowl selection TJ Watt.

Meanwhile, Dak Prescott is in the final season of his contract with the team, so his future with the Cowboys beyond the 2024 season remains unclear.
Prescott earned MVP voting last season after throwing an NFL-leading 36 touchdown passes and 4,516 passing yards. He led Dallas to the playoffs five times in eight seasons, but the Cowboys never advanced further than the divisional round.
