Turkeys may be saved if Panthers wide receiver Xavier Leggett and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones get together for Thanksgiving, but raccoons and squirrels aren't safe.
During his weekly appearances, Shan & RJ Show On Audacy's 105.3 The Fan, Jones was asked about Leggett's recent comments about eating raccoon on Thanksgiving.
When asked about Leggett's unique tastes, Jones readily admits that he enjoys similar country cuisine.
“I ate a lot of raccoon,” Jones replied. “The answer is yes. …It's not at all unusual. One of my favorites is the squirrel. It's great. Everyone had their own favorite piece. …My mother and I even made a squirrel brain. I wanted it. Seriously.
Jones is from Arkansas, where, like Leggett's home state of South Carolina, squirrels are regularly eaten. While eating raccoons may not be all that common, it's certainly not uncommon for families to eat “garbage pandas” for a meal.
This is all well and good, but when Cowboys fans imagined the hot topics on sports talk radio in December, they never imagined their owners would be talking about eating squirrel brains. Sho.
But the Cowboys' playoff hopes are as alive as a raccoon on Xavier Leggett's table, and here we are.
