Jerry Jones had wild food tastes from an early age, literally.

Earlier this week, Panthers wideout Xavier Leggett Expressing the raccoon's preferencesJones, who grew up in Arkansas, was asked during his weekly appearance on Dallas' 105.3 The Fan if he had ever eaten the animal.

“I ate a lot of raccoons. The answer is yes. …That’s not at all unusual.” Jones said.

“One of my favorites is the squirrels. They're amazing. Everyone had their own favorite creations. …My mom and I even wanted squirrel brains. Delicious. Seriously.”

Last week, Leggett appeared on the “St. Brown Brothers” podcast with NFL receivers Amon-Ra and Equanimius and was asked about the “hottest food” and weird things he likes to eat.

“I eat raccoon,” Leggett replied.

Leggett doubled down.

“It's like a raccoon you see in a trash can,” he said. “Hunting, killing, skinning, cooking, eating. All of it.”

Leggett, a South Carolina native, added that he ate it relatively recently, as his cousin hunted it and brought it to Thanksgiving dinner.

“All my guys do hunting and things like that,” Leggett said. “My cousin killed a raccoon, and he came over and said, 'Here we go, we got a raccoon.'”

Amon-Ra said that was insane, and Equanimis asked what the animal tasted like.

“It has its own unique touch,” Leggett explained. “Everyone still says it tastes like chicken, but raccoons have their own flavor.”
