Cowboys’ Tyler Guyton Shines in Win Against Raiders
During the Dallas Cowboys’ 33-16 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday night at Allegiant Stadium, offensive lineman Tyler Guyton demonstrated some unexpected theatrical flair.
With roughly two minutes remaining in the second quarter, Guyton and Raiders defensive end Malcolm Koonce got into a scuffle. After Guyton pushed Koonce, Koonce retaliated by hitting Guyton’s helmet.
In a moment that seemed almost staged, Guyton turned around, raised his arms dramatically, and fell back as if he had just been knocked out by a heavyweight. His antics worked, as the referee flagged Koonce for unnecessary roughness.
Interestingly, the Cowboys opted to reject the penalty against Koonce, choosing instead to take a defensive pass interference call, which allowed them to advance further down the field.
At just 24 years old, Guyton, a first-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft from Oklahoma State, is now in his second season with the team.
The game held special meaning for the Cowboys, being their first since linebacker Marshawn Kneeland’s tragic passing. A moment of silence was observed before kick-off, and players wore T-shirts honoring the 24-year-old.
Dak Prescott had a strong performance, completing 25 of 33 passes for 268 yards and four touchdowns. Meanwhile, wide receiver George Pickens recorded nine catches for 144 yards and a touchdown, and CeeDee Lamb contributed five catches for 66 yards and another touchdown.
Following this victory, the Cowboys’ record stands at 4-5-1. They will next face off against the Philadelphia Eagles, who currently hold an 8-2 record, on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
