Beating the Giants gives Micah Parsons and the Cowboys a lot of confidence.
The Cowboys star made the bold statement after Dallas (5-7) kept its slim playoff hopes alive with a 27-20 win over the Giants on Thanksgiving.
Parsons recorded 1.5 sacks, 1 tackle for loss, and 4 QB hits, earning him “Madden Thanksgiving MVP” honors after Dallas' second straight win.
“There's been a lot of trash talk out there about what a difference we can make. We still have some guys coming back from the room,” Parsons said after the game with Fox's Erin Andrews. He said this in an on-field interview. “I'll say it now, I'll be right away.”
The Cowboys' season is still on life support after back-to-back divisional wins over the Cowboys and Giants, but at least they have a chance.
NFL.com predicts Dallas If they beat the Giants, they have a 6 percent chance of making the playoffs.
The NFC's No. 5 and No. 6 seeds appear destined to go to the NFC North's No. 2 and No. 3 teams (currently the Vikings and Packers), with the No. 7 seed up for grabs.
The Commanders, with Dallas holding the tiebreaker thanks to their Week 12 win, have clinched the final wild-card spot with a 7-5 record.
The two teams will meet in Dallas in Week 18.
Parsons has previously said he won't let the Cowboys tank, and these two wins ensure Dallas' season remains relevant well into December.
“Honestly, it was really like, 'Why not us?' Everybody left us out. We were like, enough is enough. We didn't know what we got. I know what we can do here, and I believe in all of these guys here. I believe we can turn things around and come out on our own.”
Parsons helped right the ship for the time being after the Cowboys dropped five games in a row and appeared to be running away from any playoff chances.
The former Penn State star currently has 3.5 sacks in his last two games and 5.5 sacks in his four games since returning from a high ankle sprain suffered against the Giants in September.
Parsons said: “Once I got at least 90 percent, it was just a matter of fighting through and getting back on the field, knowing I can help here.”
