Cracker Barrel Reverts to Old Logo After Customer Feedback
Cracker Barrel has decided to go back to its previous logo following some negative feedback from customers about the newly introduced design. On Tuesday, the restaurant chain officially shared its plan to maintain the “old timer” logo that many patrons were fond of.
In their announcement, the company thanked customers for voicing their opinions. They stated, “We said we’ll listen. Our new logo will go away, and the ‘old timer’ will remain.” The focus, they emphasized, will always be on delivering great food and that characteristic warm hospitality that feels like family.
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Taylor Budwich also expressed appreciation for social media’s role in connecting with Cracker Barrel. He mentioned that the company had heard from President Trump and their loyal customers, urging them to restore the original logo. He congratulated them on this decision, noting it as a smart move for the restaurant.
President Trump himself took to social media to congratulate Cracker Barrel for their decision, expressing gratitude on behalf of their fans and wishing them success for the future.
The redesign initiative had been part of a larger $700 million modernization effort. This plan included not just the logo change but also updates to restaurant interiors and the introduction of new menu items. Initially, the company cited a desire to simplify the logo by moving away from the classic illustration of Uncle Herschel, opting instead for a text-only design.
However, after replacing the logo, Cracker Barrel experienced a significant market setback, losing nearly $100 million in value. Their stock dropped by over 7% within a short time frame, highlighting a rough patch for the company as the new branding failed to resonate well with its customers.
The backlash shows how much customers value brand identity. It’ll be interesting to see how Cracker Barrel moves forward from here, especially after such a noticeable shift in public perception.
