Crash outside White House security barrier leaves 1 dead: Police

One person was killed in a crash outside the White House on Saturday night, police said.

Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of a crash at the intersection of 15th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C., around 10:45 p.m. Saturday night.

According to police, one man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle crashed into a security fence surrounding the White House complex.

The incident is being investigated only as a traffic accident by the police department’s Serious Accident Investigation Unit.
