Creator Describes Series As A 'Love Letter To Judaism' — Main Actor Advocates For Palestine

Adam Brody Speaks on Gaza Conflict

In a recent interview with GQ, Adam Brody, known for his role as a rabbi on Netflix’s comedy “Nobody Wants This,” referred to the situation in Gaza as a “genocide” and expressed his support for a free Palestine.

During the interview on September 25, Brody mentioned, “I’ve talked about it a lot in private, but not so much publicly.”

He went on to state, “Consider me one who thinks it’s a genocide. I want a free Palestine.”

Erin Foster, the creator of “Nobody Wants This,” voiced her disagreement with Brody’s viewpoint in an episode of the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast.

Brody elaborated on his thoughts, explaining that while he recognizes the pain and loss involved, it seems to him that the situation is reaching a critical juncture. “It’s tragic that it’s taken so much death and suffering, but it feels overdue for a change,” he said.

He also expressed some hope that future leadership could implement positive changes to mend problematic policies contributing to the current crisis. “I wish that another administration could really make a difference and fix some of the policies that have led to this awful situation,” he remarked.

Notably, Brody shared that he usually refrains from discussing his political views unless prompted. “I’m not wearing a pin, so I’m not inviting certain questions, and maybe I should,” he admitted. “I truly admire those who do.”

Foster reiterated her stance, acknowledging her love for Brody but noting her disagreement. “I think it’s okay to have differing opinions,” she said, acknowledging the complexity of the situation. “Our set feels very much like dinner tables worldwide, filled with debates and disagreements.”

She expressed a desire for their Jewish fans to feel seen and understood, stating, “I see you, I hear you, and I recognize your feelings.”

Foster emphasized the importance of the show as a celebration of Judaism. “I created this show because of how meaningful my own Jewish experience has been. At a time when there’s little positive representation of Jewish people, I think it’s crucial to highlight that,” she explained.

Wrapping up her thoughts, Foster acknowledged that while Brody has his perspective, it’s completely valid for others to think differently. “Everyone is entitled to their own opinion,” she concluded.
