Scott Stapp posted a cryptic message saying he would leave his wife Jaclyn Stapp “with dignity” after she filed for divorce.
On Saturday, the Creed frontman, 50, shared a sermon from TD Jakes on his Instagram Story.
“Speak without being aggressive, listen without being defensive, and always maintain dignity,” the 66-year-old pastor said.
Scott’s message came a day after TMZ reported that his wife filed for dissolution of their marriage after 18 years of marriage.
“Out of respect for his family, Scott is going through this difficult time privately,” a rep for the musician told People.
The couple’s breakup lasted years, with Jaclyn, 43, filing for divorce from Scott in June 2022, according to court records viewed by Page Six.
Although the beauty queen’s application was later withdrawn, the “One Last Breath” singer filed to end her marriage in May 2023.
A source told People: “Scott and Jaclyn knew their marriage was over, but they continued to work hard to make it work.”
Jaclyn and Scott married in February 2006 after meeting at a Muscular Dystrophy Association gala in New York.
They have three children: daughter Mia (17 years old) and sons Daniel (13 years old) and Anthony (6 years old).
The rock star is also father to 25-year-old son Jagger with first wife Hilary Burns.
During his marriage to Jaclyn, Scott was diagnosed with bipolar disorder due to abuse of prescription drugs, alcohol, and marijuana.
“I was a psychopath,” he previously told People magazine. “I had delusions. I thought there was an angel sitting on the hood of my car. I grew a beard to look like Jesus. I had threats that the Secret Service would come to my house. My actions became dangerous.”
The fashion model said she was watching her husband “slow and painful public death”, adding that she was “horrified”.
Their breakup came as he was preparing for a reunion tour with his band, Creed, after 12 years.
