Creighton's basketball team recorded an iconic win in 2024.
The Blue Jays defeated the No. 1 ranked Kansas Jayhawks in perhaps the biggest upset so far this season. Creighton led by 17 points at one point and won 76-63.
After the game, Creighton head coach Greg McDermott made a bold claim. “This is the building [where] The No. 1 team is clearly going to perish,” the coach said as fans crowded onto the court.

McDermott points out that Creighton was able to accomplish a similar feat last season by upsetting the then-top-ranked University Huskies on its home court in Omaha.
Another moment of courtroom intrusion occurred during the Blue Jays' 85-66 victory in February.

Under Coach McDermott, Creighton has appeared in the NCAA Tournament nine times and advanced to the Sweet 16 three times.

The Blue Jays' victory over Kansas was the program's 15th win over a top-10 opponent since McDermott became head coach in 2010.

Creighton plans to remain in Omaha until the next game against UNLV. Tipoff is scheduled for December 7th at 4pm ET. Meanwhile, Kansas heads to Missouri to play the Tigers on December 8th.
