Will 2026 Be Travis Kelce’s Final Year?

After marrying Taylor Swift on July 3, Travis Kelce shared an Instagram post with former Vikings wide receiver Cris Carter, hinting that 2026 might mark the end of Kelce’s NFL career.

Carter mentioned, “Know that the Goats are preparing for their last dance. Next stop is Canton/HOF.”

Alongside Carter, Kelce was also seen training with his longtime coach, Andrew Spruill. Spruill has a history with Kelce, having trained him as a tight end since his rookie season in 2013.

This post from Carter sparked quite a reaction, with some fans accusing him of prematurely announcing Kelce’s retirement.

One fan expressed frustration, saying, “Can we please allow Travis to announce his retirement on his own? Everything about him is in the headlines. Are you saying this to get attention? He has always been clear that he doesn’t want the spotlight during his farewell tour.” Another chimed in, questioning the necessity of the announcement about Kelce’s contract status.

Last season brought whispers about Kelce’s potential retirement after the Chiefs missed the playoffs for the first time since 2014. Nevertheless, he opted for a one-year contract renewal in March.

Despite a challenging year in which Patrick Mahomes’ torn ACL impacted the team, Kelce still accrued 851 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

Over his 13 seasons with the Chiefs, Kelce has achieved 13,002 receiving yards and 82 touchdowns, firmly placing him among the elite tight ends in NFL history. He had an impressive streak of seven consecutive 1,000-yard seasons from 2016 to 2022 and celebrated three Super Bowl victories between 2019 and 2024.
