Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez invited 5 people to their wedding.

Over the weekend, Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo tied the knot with his long-time partner, Georgina Rodriguez.

Ronaldo had previously hinted at his plans to marry Rodriguez after the 2026 World Cup. Early reports suggested the couple would get married on August 8th in a cathedral on Madeira, a picturesque island in Portugal.

However, it turns out those reports were a bit off. In a bit of a surprise twist, Ronaldo and Rodriguez did not actually get married when many expected. Instead, they posted pictures of their wedding rings on Instagram, leaving many confused.

There was a noticeable lack of details shared about the supposed wedding, prompting a lot of speculation about what had really occurred.

Some outlets provided bits of information, noting that the couple’s guest list was strikingly small, featuring only their five children—two from Rodriguez and three from Ronaldo’s earlier relationships.

The ceremony took place in Cascais, Portugal, not Madeira as previously thought, and it was, well, a lot different from what fans had imagined it would be. As Ronaldo mentioned, Rodriguez prefers to avoid large parties and adores her privacy, which is why the celebration was understated. One might wonder if Ronaldo would have preferred a grand affair, akin to a celebrity wedding like that of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce earlier this summer.
