Cristiano Ronaldo Is Engaged

Portuguese soccer icon Cristiano Ronaldo, who is now 40, is engaged to his long-time girlfriend, Georgina Rodriguez. They’ve been together for eight years, and Rodriguez revealed the engagement on Instagram.

In her post, she shared, “Yes, that’s right. In this and in my life,” alongside a photo of her stunning oval diamond engagement ring.

The couple’s romance began in January 2017 at the Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich, and they shared their relationship publicly on Instagram later that year.

Ronaldo and Rodriguez are parents to five children: twins Eva Maria and Mateo, who are eight, seven-year-old Alana, three-year-old Bella, and 15-year-old Cristiano Jr., from Ronaldo’s previous relationship.

In April 2022, they faced a tragedy with the loss of Bella’s newborn twin brother, Anchell.

This announcement of the engagement marks the first time Rodriguez has publicly confirmed their future plans. The couple has mentioned discussing marriage in the Netflix docuseries “I Am Georgina.” Rodriguez mentioned in an episode, “They always joke about weddings, asking, ‘When will there be a wedding?'” She also shared that friends would sing “The Ring” by Jennifer Lopez to her, implying the pressure—but she noted it wasn’t entirely up to her.

Ronaldo teased, “We always tell her when we click on her,” suggesting that, much like many aspects of their lives, the timing is uncertain. He speculated it could happen within a month or even a year, but he’s confident it will eventually come to pass.

In a separate note, a civil lawsuit accusing Ronaldo of raping a woman in Las Vegas in 2009 has been dismissed. The case was thrown out due to misconduct by the plaintiff’s attorney, with the judge ordering the lawyer to cover some of Ronaldo’s legal fees.
