Christian musicians Cory Asbury and Matthew West have expressed their apologies to fellow artist Forest Frank for creating parody videos in light of Frank’s skateboarding accident. After experiencing serious injuries, Frank proclaimed on social media that he was, in fact, “miraculously healed.” About two weeks following the incident, he shared a video responding to Asbury’s humorous take on his situation regarding a vasectomy joke. Frank mentioned that while he understands the intention behind the humor, it still hurt him.

He noted that from a Christian artist, it was quite surprising to see jokes about such a serious matter. “I understand you are just having fun, and you probably didn’t think I’d see it,” he remarked. However, he emphasized that discussions happening on social media can sometimes lack context and sensitivity.

Interestingly, Frank has collaborated on a song titled “Musundound” with Asbury, who later extended his apologies, admitting the parody was in poor taste. In Asbury’s own follow-up video, he joked that he, too, was recuperating from a vasectomy, promising to continue spreading positive messages despite the humor. “I never meant any disrespect,” he said, acknowledging the seriousness of Frank’s experience.

West also joined in with an apology video where he humorously lamented his own mocking of Frank’s accident. “I’m taking lemons and making lemonade,” he chimed, trying to turn the situation into a light-hearted lesson. However, he recognized that his approach may have felt dismissive of Frank’s difficult situation. After Frank reached out to express his discomfort, West deleted the video and conversed with him directly, showing respect for how the matter unfolded.

Despite the lack of malice behind the content, West admitted he understood Frank’s perspective. “We handled this in a way we’d hope aligns with Biblical principles,” he mentioned. This sentiment resonated with Frank, who appreciated West’s willingness to address the situation thoughtfully.

In summarizing their back-and-forth, Frank expressed his respect for West and shared that he was glad they could resolve it amicably. Their discussions seem to highlight a broader understanding that comedic approaches can sometimes tread on sensitive topics in unexpected ways.
