Trump Hosts Saudi Crown Prince at White House

On Tuesday, President Trump welcomed Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the White House with a grand ceremony on the South Lawn. This event was the most elaborate greeting for a foreign leader during Trump’s second term.

The ceremony featured a military band, a procession, and the impressive flyover of F-35 and F-15 fighter jets. Following this, the Crown Prince accompanied Trump into the White House, making their way to the Oval Office where both teams are set to discuss bilateral issues. Later, they will enjoy a black tie dinner.

This visit is a notable change, especially considering how Bin Salman was characterized by former President Biden as a “pariah” after the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Turkey back in 2018. U.S. intelligence indicated that the Crown Prince had signed off on that operation.

It’s interesting to see how international relations can shift over time, isn’t it? The symbolic gestures during such visits often say more than the words spoken.
