Cruz Anticipates Reconciliation Bill Approval — ‘But It’s Likely to Have Many Ups and Downs’

Sen. Ted Cruz Discusses Trump’s Legislative Efforts

During an appearance on FNC’s “Hornity” Monday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) talked about the recent passage of what President Donald Trump calls his “big, beautiful bill.”

However, Texas Republicans noted the process had its share of complications.

“Senator, I believe this is crucial,” host Sean Hannity stated. “We need to keep the economy moving forward and foster positive outcomes in elections. Every lawmaker, especially those up for re-election in 2026, should be eager to pass this, as it could lead to a quicker recovery.”

Cruz agreed, saying, “Absolutely, we are going to accomplish this. The budget reconciliation process, which is an exception to the Senate filibuster, is the key way to enact the necessary legislation from Trump’s initial term. Using budgetary changes to enhance border security and invest significantly in wall construction and personnel is vital.”

“That said, Sean, I want to emphasize that the process may get messy,” he added. “As Otto von Bismarck once remarked, there are two things you don’t want to see made: sausages and laws. It’s certainly not pretty. There’s a mix of challenges involved, but we know that come December 31st, the Trump tax cut will still be in play, leading to a $4 trillion tax reduction.”

“I don’t think there’s a single Republican in the House or Senate who opposes that, so I’m optimistic we’ll make it, but expect quite a few twists along the way,” Cruz concluded.
