Former St. Louis Cardinals star Jim Edmonds scolded Chicago Cubs designated hitter Christopher Morrell for showing off after his home run on Sunday.
Morrell hit two home runs in the Cubs’ 8-3 win over the Cardinals — the first in the sixth inning off Mike Mikolas and the second in the eighth off Andrew Ketridge — but it was Morrell’s eighth-inning homer that likely frustrated manager Edmonds.

“His celebration is a joke. I don’t care if I say that. I’ve never seen anything like this,” Edmonds said on the Barry Sports broadcast. “I don’t understand it. A guy batting .229 in the major leagues is running around like he’s Barry Bonds.”
Edmonds later took issue with the fan who caught the home run ball.
“He also takes up a lot of space outside…” he added.
Morrell has now hit 18 home runs this season and the Cubs’ win improves them to 47-51 this season, while the Cardinals were 50-46 going into the league’s All-Star break.

Pete “Crowe” Armstrong also hit two home runs.
“It was definitely fun to watch,” Cubs manager Craig Counsell said. Via MLB.com“We did a really good job. We got beat early on, but we came out with the bat really well. We had a lot of good swings and we were hitting the ball really well. Pete had his best day in the major leagues and it was fun to watch.”
