Pete Crowe Armstrong Reflects on Recent Incident
Pete Crowe Armstrong adopted a noticeably different tone on Monday. It came just a day after he had a heated exchange with a fan during a 9-8 loss to the White Sox, where he expressed frustration by saying, “This motherfucker sucks.” On Monday, he acknowledged that he might have crossed a line.
“I particularly regret how my words affected the people around me, directly or indirectly,” Crowe Armstrong shared with reporters. “I don’t think the women in my life would expect me to use that language, especially regarding them. So, I’m just disappointed with that choice of words. It’s likely that young kids are on social media and seeing this unfold.”
“I’m usually very enthusiastic on the field, but, in moments like that, I let my emotions get the better of me. Again, it was just a poor choice of words,” he added.
This entire situation unfolded in the outfield at Lehto Field, following his failure to catch a long drive that hit the wall. A woman near the outfield fence took the opportunity to criticize him.
“That sucks,” she told him, giving him a thumbs down, which seemed like a planned jab during the event.
Crowe Armstrong, who was drafted by the Mets and is now a leading prospect, responded with inappropriate remarks.
“When the woman said something, I felt compelled to respond,” he stated after the game.
Her reaction drew considerable attention from onlookers. She recounted, “I told him he was terrible, and he responded with things I wouldn’t say to a woman.” Her two brothers were also present at the scene.
Interestingly, her fiancé, wearing a Cubs jersey, attempted to diffuse the situation. She remarked, “He tried to calm me down, but after hearing what PCA said, he started booing too.”
While there has been no official word from MLB regarding the incident, Crowe Armstrong is anticipated to play center field and bat No. 8 in the upcoming game against the Brewers at Wrigley Field on Monday night.
