Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo is considering whether to run against indicted Eric Adams in this year's mayoral race, as he lives across the street from his 93-year-old mother, Matilda, in the upscale Sutton Place neighborhood. The Post reported.
Mr. Cuomo is registered to vote in a luxury rental complex on East 54th.th As of a year ago, the monthly fee was $8,242, according to StreetEasy and city election records. To run for mayor, candidates must maintain an address in the five boroughs.
Sources say the former governor's sister Maria and her fashion designer husband Kenneth Cole also live nearby.
Cuomo's 1,100-square-foot apartment has two bedrooms and two bathrooms.
When Cuomo left the governor's mansion in 2021, he dumped his belongings at his sister's house in Westchester, about 14 miles south of where he once lived with his ex, Sandra Lee, the Post reported at the time.
But his sister and Cole put a house in the suburbs on the market He paid $22 million to move to Gotham over the summer.
Mr. Cuomo was spotted voting in Midtown East in October. Page Six reported.
“The governor is a Queens native who has spent his entire adult life fighting to improve the lives of New York City residents,” spokesman Rich Azzopardi said.
He has “lived in a pad in Manhattan for quite some time, and having family nearby is definitely a bonus,” Azzopardi added.
Mr. Cuomo resigned as governor following numerous allegations of harassment, which he has strongly denied and is now raising the possibility of a return to politics.
But Azzopardi said talk of Cuomo running for mayor is “premature.”
