Kansas City’s 1587 Prime Steakhouse Faces Mixed Reviews

Kansas City Chiefs players Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes have recently gained attention after TikTok reviews critiquing their steakhouse, 1587 Prime, caught fire online.

One diner claimed her $650 meal was the “worst fine dining experience” she had ever encountered at the restaurant, which opened in September 2025 and has seen visits from high-profile figures, including Taylor Swift—who is, of course, engaged to Kelce.

However, her negative assessment starkly contrasts with others who praised their experiences. TikTok user Nicole Rose, under the handle @knicnacks, posted a video in mid-March, which has since racked up over 600,000 views.

In her critique, she detailed frustrations like the slow drink service and confusion surrounding the restaurant’s specialty martini carts. “First of all, it took me 45 minutes to get my martini,” she remarked, noting the $33 drinks came without any server interaction to guide the experience.

Other patrons echoed her sentiments about the service quality throughout the night, claiming staff did not adequately explain aspects of the dining experience. “I couldn’t find a server that would save my life,” she lamented.

When it came to the food, her displeasure continued. “The fried chicken arrived before our drinks, and honestly, it didn’t taste good. It wasn’t worth the $25,” she said. Additionally, she mentioned that a $15 steak sauce was forgotten and her friend had almost finished her steak by the time it was finally brought to the table. “My $100 steak was cooked wrong,” she added.

Still, despite the harsh words, some patrons noted positive aspects of their visits. Rose, for instance, mentioned that the broccolini was a standout item on their table, as well as the mashed potatoes and Parker House rolls, but overall, she felt that the experience simply didn’t justify the steep prices.

“The quickest thing our server did was pull out the bill—$650,” she quipped. Rose contrasted her experience with a visit to Gibson’s Steakhouse in Chicago, commending the attentive service and the quality dining there. “They walk you through the whole menu,” she said, suggesting Kelce and Mahomes take a page from their playbook.

Some reactions on social media spoke to the pricing at 1587 Prime, with one commenter exclaiming incredulously about the $33 martini. Others raised questions about whether the restaurant’s celebrity status influenced customer expectations. “I mean, what’s going on here?” one user pondered, calling it a “tourist trap.”

Rose’s critique echoed previous remarks from restaurant critic Liz Cook, who described the overall experience as underwhelming. Conversely, some feedback has been more favorable; a review in Business Insider earlier noted that a dinner there “did not disappoint” and highlighted the atmosphere as luxurious.

As 1587 Prime continues to navigate its place in Kansas City’s dining scene, it maintains a rating of 4.3 on Google, suggesting that despite mixed reviews, many customers still appreciate what the restaurant has to offer.

Kelce and Mahomes, who are known for their teamwork on the football field, are also exploring other ventures together, including investments in Chicken N Pickle and F1 Team Alpine Racing LTD.
