Liquid Meth Seized at Texas Border

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents in Eagle Pass, Texas, recently uncovered nearly 90 pounds of liquid methamphetamine. The drug was hidden inside plastic bottles, found during a vehicle inspection, officials reported.

This incident took place on October 29, when an officer requested a deeper inspection of a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban at the Camino Real International Bridge. A thorough search led to the discovery of five plastic bottles containing 88.8 pounds of meth, valued at approximately $816,556, according to CBP.

“The ongoing diligence of CBP officers day in and day out made this substantial seizure achievable,” noted Eagle Pass Port of Entry Harbor Director Pete Beatty.

Following the seizure, the drugs were confiscated, and special agents from Homeland Security Investigations initiated a federal inquiry.

On social media, authorities took a light-hearted approach, sharing images of the seized evidence with a caption: “If something weird happens in your car, who do you call? Meth Busters!” The post, peppered with puns, quickly drew attention but stressed the serious nature of the operation aimed at tackling synthetic drugs entering through South Texas ports.

According to CBP data, the transportation of liquid meth has been increasingly common at the border. The agency has previously reported similar seizures, including drugs concealed in various vehicle compartments and household containers in cities like Laredo, Brownsville, and Farr.

CBP plans to enhance inspections along the Eagle Pass corridor, where thousands of vehicles cross daily. They also encouraged the public to stay alert about potential smuggling activities and report any suspicious behavior through the CBP tip line or local authorities.

As of now, CBP has not provided further comments regarding the seizure.
