D4vd reaches the top spot on Google's trending musicians list for 2025

Fans of the singer known for “Romantic Homicide” are devastated after learning that their support helped elevate D4vd to the top of Google’s Trending Musicians of 2025, even as he faces scrutiny related to the murder of a teenage girl.

Despite D4vd achieving this notable position, surpassing artists like Bad Bunny, Doechee, and Coldplay, police are currently investigating the tragic death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose dismembered body was discovered on September 8 in the trunk of D4vd’s Tesla.

The car was towed from the Hollywood Hills area, where D4vd was renting an expensive mansion. Reports emerged from a towing yard about a strange smell, which later turned out to be linked to the body of a teenage boy.

Heartbroken fans, some of whom were among Spotify’s top 1,500 listeners, expressed their grief on Reddit. One fan lamented, “You can’t waterboard me with this,” reflecting the overwhelming anguish felt by many.

“To say I was heartbroken when the news came out is an understatement,” one user posted, adding that they would refrain from streaming until more information was officially released. Another fan remarked, “I can’t imagine the garbage you listen to. D4vd is actually very talented and could have been even bigger than what he already had.”

Another fan shared a meme on X depicting a skeleton falling over, humorously captioned, “Spotify is about to wrap and d4vd is probably my #1 artist…”

D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, is 20 years old and gained fame through TikTok, where he has amassed over 3.9 million followers. He made his debut at Coachella earlier this year, but his performance was marred by an embarrassing fall during an attempted backflip.

The music video for his song “One More Dance,” which features him in a blood-stained white shirt while blindfolded, has received 5.9 million views on YouTube. However, upon the emergence of the murder investigation, he had to cancel his ongoing tour.

Although D4vd has not been named a suspect in the investigation, as per the Los Angeles Police Department, the cause of Rivas-Hernandez’s death is still undetermined, according to the Los Angeles County coroner.
