Dacre Montgomery Reflects on Fame and Future Projects
Something unusual has come to light.
Dacre Montgomery, known for his role in Netflix’s blockbuster “Stranger Things,” recently discussed his rise to stardom. “I think things have changed,” he shared in an interview. “There used to be a certain mystery around Hollywood stars. Social media has really altered that dynamic, making the past few years feel pretty different.”
The Australian actor, who became widely recognized for playing Billy Hargrove, expressed a desire to navigate the intricacies of the film industry on his own terms. “I’m not in competition with anyone else. I’m just living my truth, and—well, I hope I can pay my rent,” he remarked.
Montgomery joined the “Stranger Things” cast in its second season, with his character meeting a dramatic end by the third season finale in July 2019. “I poured a part of myself into each role, which is actually why I decided to take a break,” he noted.
Over the past decade, Dacre has taken on nearly a dozen projects. His most recognized performances include roles in “Elvis” and the 2017 “Power Rangers” film. Recently, he reflected on his career aspirations, saying, “I’ve been really thinking about what I want for my future in acting. I’m aiming for more control over the projects I choose.”
The 30-year-old is keen on selecting roles that leave a significant impact on audiences. He mentioned a new indie thriller titled “Climbing the Hill,” emphasizing that it aims to resonate deeply with certain viewers. “Every film I’m working on has this important thread connecting them. ‘Climbing the Hill’ might not appeal to everyone, but I hope those who do connect with it find some kind of release,” he explained.
“That’s the goal, isn’t it? To touch at least one person through your work,” Dacre added.
In addition to acting, Montgomery is venturing into directing. He will make his directorial debut with the film “The Engagement Party,” where he’s also set to star.
