'Daily Show' backs out of Milwaukee taping after rally shooting

“The Daily Show” has canceled its Milwaukee taping during this week’s Republican National Convention due to “logistical challenges and changing conditions in Milwaukee.” post To social platform X.

The Comedy Central news satire show had been scheduled to cover the convention as part of its election year coverage, “Indecision 2024.” The change of plans came in the wake of the assassination attempt on former President Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

“The Daily Show” had been selling out multiple nights at Milwaukee’s 1,500-seat Marcus Performing Arts Center, where CEO Kevin Giglint said in a statement that the show was canceled “in light of the extremely shocking and tragic events” in Pennsylvania.

“We were looking forward to hosting The Daily Show, but we support and endorse their decision.” Giglint says:According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The gunman and one other attendee were shot dead at the rally. Two other attendees were shot and seriously injured but are now in stable condition. Trump was shot in the ear but said he was OK. Despite the assassination attempt, Trump is scheduled to attend the rally as scheduled and leave for Milwaukee on Sunday.

“The Daily Show” outlined its plans to return to the state after the cancellation, writing, “We have had to reschedule some events in Wisconsin and will be making up the work in the coming weeks.”

The show will not air on Monday, the first day of the tournament, but will resume broadcasting from its New York studio from Tuesday through Thursday.
