Riddick characterized the exchange on Thursday's late-night show as a “moment of amazing chemistry.”
“Oh, someone's trying to make Elon jealous,” she joked Thursday night, adding that Musk is heavily financial backing his White House victory over Vice President Harris, a potential 2024 presidential candidate. He noted his emergence as one of Trump's closest allies and advisers during the election.
“But that's a little weird for Obama, isn't it? To go from 'This guy is the future Hitler' to 'Oh, great story, he's the future Hitler,'” she added.
At his funeral Thursday in Washington, Mr. Obama and Mr. Trump sat next to each other. The two smiled and laughed during their conversation, months after a heated election cycle in which both men clashed with each other on the campaign trail.
President Trump acknowledged Thursday night that the exchange appeared “friendly.”
“I didn't realize how friendly it would seem,” he said ahead of a meeting with Republican governors in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.
“I saw it on your great network just before I came in, and I said, 'Well, they seem like two people who like each other,'” he told FOX. told news reporter Peter Doocy. “And it probably will be.”
The president-elect added that he and Obama “just hit it off” despite having “different philosophies.”
“But I got on well with everyone about that,” the president-elect continued, without providing details about what was discussed between the two on Thursday. “You know, we met backstage before the show and I thought it was a great service and we all got along really well.”
