Jerry Jones Expresses Optimism Following Cowboys Win

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones seems to be in high spirits lately.

After the Cowboys secured a win against the Washington Commanders, Jones told reporters that “nothing is more dangerous than an old man with money.” Fast forward to Tuesday, just two weeks into the 2026 season, and he already appears to be feeling excited about the possibility of a Super Bowl run.

It’s natural to think he’s probably reminiscing about those glory days from the 1990s, but, honestly, who wouldn’t? Jones is especially eager to lift the Cowboys back to the top, especially since the team hasn’t reached an NFC Championship Game since 1995.

Dak Prescott’s impressive four touchdown passes against the Commanders, along with becoming the franchise leader in passing touchdowns, has certainly given Jones a boost of energy.

“He’s really the embodiment of self-improvement,” Jones said about Prescott during a segment on Dallas’ 105.3 The Fan. “His work ethic speaks volumes. I’m happy to say he’s a better quarterback today than he was before. Even if physical skills may wane, his approach ensures he continues to grow as a player.” That’s quite the endorsement!

Jones praised Prescott’s record, suggesting it reflects the best overall performance he’s seen. He emphasized the quarterback’s potential for greatness, noting how this level of play could give the Cowboys their best shot at winning a Super Bowl. There’s still hope, he believes, for Prescott to secure championships in the future.

However, Prescott’s health will be crucial in the coming games. Over the past few seasons, he’s faced challenges: only managing to play eight games in 2024 and five in 2020, though 2022 saw him make it through 12 games.

But, having just had a record-breaking year in 2025 with 404 completions and his fourth Pro Bowl appearance, he seems to be hitting his stride again in 2026. The disappointment of a Week 1 loss to the New York Giants is likely fading from memory as the season progresses.
